About Us

We are a small family run business that strives to craft quality products for children ages 6 months to 11 years, which fire the imagination and encourage learning through play. Our range of made-to-last dressing-up costumes, educational toys and accessories are all designed to be both educational and fun!

Since its launch in 2005, Pretend to Bee has grown to be a trusted brand in the UK’s education sector for Early Years Role Play, with costumes featured on ITV’s This Morning and the Pride of Britain Awards.

Our second brand, Active Learning, offers a range of children’s educational soft play equipment. Handmade in the UK, these products are made from ethically sourced, high-quality, non-toxic materials that stand the test of time. Creating safe and robust products that last and place immersive play at the forefront of a child’s development, is at the heart of what we do.

Our Values:

In our world, toys, costumes, and outfits are no-fuss, high-quality, easy-wear, long-lasting and kind to the environment. We are a close-knit team that care for our customers and each other, taking immense pride in our craftsmanship, creating products for you to love as much as we do.

Our made-for-life products are where durability, safety, reliability, comfort, and excellence meet. Manufactured to the highest standard, we make products that last, wash, and fit well (essential!), and are easy to care for. Our products are designed with completely unique features and special detailing in premium fabrics and materials.

We believe the best way to learn and expand a child’s mind is through immersive play and sparking the imagination through connection and collaboration. With our wide variety of creative costumes, outfits, toys and more, curiosity and communication can flourish, encouraging the exploration of new worlds, occupations, characters, animals, and cultures. We even create FREE printable activity sheets to assist learning fun, and foster critical thinking in an enjoyable way.

You can rely on responsibly sourced fabrics, materials, and intricate details to ensure safety and consistency. We feel it is our responsibility to nurture the minds and growth of children all over the world, through education, play and diversity.

In our quest to work towards a better future for our children, we are introducing eco-friendly dressing-up costumes, made at lest 90% post-consumer recycled polyester fabric.

Play is at the heart of everything we do. Role-play, learning among friends and building confidence through experimentation is integral to our mission.
