Rabbits

From communicating with fairies to being friends with moon deities, Rabbits are featured in myths around the world where they often symbolise good luck and the coming of spring. These cute creatures have been kept as pets for over 2000 years and are the third most popular pet in the UK, so it is important to understand the intrinsic link between a rabbit’s environment and their mental and physical health. Many factors need to be considered from having the company of another rabbit to giving them constant access to clean, fresh water and a healthy diet. Rabbits also need access to lots of space so they can exercise and play. This not only promotes a healthy physical growth but also benefits their mental health as they enjoy expressing their energetic nature just like a lot of children!

Our Rabbit Dress-up is a hop-tastic addition to any child’s playtime. Whether they want to embody their favourite rabbit characters, like the Easter bunny, or be inspired to create their own magical tales, this is the perfect costume! The use of soft, white faux fur throughout the rabbit mask, ensures that kids will feel as adorable as any bunny whilst they play. Plus, the detachable bunny tail belt will give them the perfect amount of bobbly effect to bounce around in. This 2-Piece Accessory Set is sure to appear time and time again as children play and emulate the energetic rabbit!

Not only do these animals make fantastic pets, but when living in the wild, these adorable rabbits can perform impressive feats like running at speeds over 35mph and easily jumping to hights over 2ft. Plus, their long fluffy ears are not only cute, but they give rabbits the amazing ability to accurately locate the source of sounds! And when combined with their almost 360⁰ field of vision, rabbits are always alert to their surroundings, allowing them to always have a predetermined exit strategy when needed. Extraordinary!

Dogs

These adorable animals have evolved as a sub-species of the grey wolf into over 300 breeds who live along side us as paw-fect pets! Inspiring us at Pretend to Bee right now is the Dalmatian. With its iconic spotted colouring, this majestic dog is known for its intelligence and high stamina, making them the perfect companion as carriage dogs and protectors throughout history. And in even more recent times, Dalmatians have worked closely with Firefighters to help escort horse-drawn fire trucks around. These dogs are truly paw-some!

Kids can encompass this lovable pet with our Dog dress-up set! The white velour of the dog mask and tail is speckled with black spots to mimic the iconic coat of a Dalmatian. The detail given to the floppy dog ears and the nose will pair perfectly with the movement of the tail as children bound around and imagine themselves as these incredible dogs. In this 2-piece accessory set anything is paw-ssible!

Goldfish

Originating from China, Goldfish were first bred for their distinctive yellow gold colour during the Song Dynasty, where they were kept in ponds by members of the Imperial family to be displayed on special occasions.

Contrary to widespread belief, goldfish have a memory span of around 3 months and can quickly learn associations, especially around feeding time! They can even recognise humans who often give them food and spend lots of time around them, going so far to not see them as a threat and exhibit food seeking behaviour around them. To goldfish feeding time is especially important as they always want to eat. The main reason for this is because they don’t actually have a stomach and most of their digestion occurs in their intestines, so it is best for goldfish to eat small amounts regularly to avoid easily overeating.

A goldfish’s distinctive golden colour occurs when the pigment in their skin is exposed to sunlight, just like a tan! Like the goldfish, Pretend to Bee’s Goldfish themed dress-up is sure to catch people’s attention! The vibrant orange and nylon foil used throughout mirrors the shine of a goldfish’s scales which have made this pet so popular thought history. The bulbous eyes of the fish headband match perfectly with the fish fins as well as the fish tail attached to the scale effect belt and will have children excited to plunge into playtime!
